You'll Find Laughter By The Bale At The Comedy Barn

With all the crazy things going on in the world today, we could all use a good laugh now and then, right? So the next time you travel to the Great Smoky Mountains, you might consider stopping at one popular place where they generate enough laughter to keep folks smiling for days.

The Comedy Barn Theater, located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, has been around for 20 years now, entertaining Smoky Mountain visitors with its down-home brand of comedy and variety. They not only consistently bring in first-time guests, but they also have a loyal base of fans who make it a point to step through those barn doors every time they go to the Smokies.

 

 

Yes, laughter abounds on the Comedy Barn stage, but there's so much more to the show, which is suitable for families and guests all ages. The cast features magicians, jugglers, ventriloquists, dancers and even a live band that dishes out heaping helpings of country and gospel music. 

Show highlights include the sketch where one of the show's ventriloquists puts ventriloquist-dummy masks on two members of the audience and soon has the rest of the crowd in stitches as he throws his voice through the masks of the hapless volunteers. Another audience favorite is when long-time cast member Eric Lambert brings three audience volunteers on stage for a hilarious performance of the classic song "Bohemian Rhapsody." 

Some of the biggest stars to take the Comedy Barn stage are the show's animal performers. Crowds always love the performing menagerie, which includes trained pigs, parrots, house cats, dogs and a miniature donkey. These Comedy Critters amaze guests with their skills and keep everyone laughing at their zany antics.

 

The theater has added a new element to its experience as of November 2017. Now guests attending the 5 and 8:15 p.m. shows can add a family-style dinner to their show package for $20 per person ($10 for kids). The Frizzle Chicken Farmhouse Café, next door to the theater, serves a feast that includes pot roast, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, homemade pasta salad, cream of chicken soup, rolls and either banana pudding or chocolate cake for dessert.

If you've never been to The Comedy Barn before, you can't miss it. It's the huge, red, barn-like structure on the Parkway, not far from the clearly visible Smoky Mountain Wheel attraction at The Island. The theater offers plenty of free parking.
